अंतर की खोज का प्रयत्न by Dr. Jyotish Joshi |

An Effort to Discover the Inner World Sunil Kumar is one such self -taught upcoming artist who explores the inner processes very minutely. This research follows for sure the tradition of spiritual observation and meditation; it also deeply involves life-experiences. Obviously, such research work is in the power of those who can communicate with him or herself. Sunil has got this power. Talking to themselves, his works happen to be a discovery of self, a union with self, away from mundane affairs and illusions. On close observation we see that the forms constructed in these works are crops from our mind, our psyche. On the level of consciousness his forms and figures find their take shape through mental processes. There is a profound duality and conflict in these works, a certain silence; but emerging through mental churning there is a rhythm that shakes us to unknown depths. While depicting the processes of human inner world his is a mature technique, fully at his command; colours very much familiar (to him); and brush-strokes capable of carrying the life structure to the height of its perfection. Dominance of female figures say that the artist’s mind sees mental scrutiny as closely influenced by the worldly truths. Whereas conception, birth, a woman’s struggles etc. happen to be the target of our sub-conscious figurative representation they also are their controlling factors. Whether it is pastel on paper or oil on canvas, his works go deep down to the core of feelings and experiences; and appear very potent and promising.) —Dr. Jyotish Joshi |
