Rambha Saya (Personal Space) Glimpses

The underlying idea behind the many banners (Sukean Center, Citrakutee, Rambha Saya) appearing here to represent something is rooted in their being identifiable and differentiable in something whole. That whole to some extent is equal to the concept of Sukean Center. Where do the other two banners stand in this whole could be seen when we know how they are linked to each other.

Sukean Center (www presence @: su-nil.com) is mainly meant to be my (suke's) public or interactive front and could be conceived as a domain in my mind and its physical representation on ground characterized by activities and efforts seeking to establish and maintain a socio-cultural habitat for deep-rooted collective values considering the dounting challenges of modern times and today's futuristic growth patterns.

And it is art wherein lies the invincible source of hope, latent or active, despite the fact that apparently it is the area and aspect of life that is most susceptible and vulnerable to unholistic activities.* (Let me mention here the fact that apparently ironical this potential of art is in view of the fact that art itself is not self-sustainable. But deep down truth differs from what appears true to logic constrained by mundane factors. When everything fails art in one of its sublime forms rises to the challenges and comes to the rescue. It is this insightful observation that finds itself to be the core spirit of this museum-like initiative named Chitrakutee (चित्रकुटी).

I must admit this truth about myself that I acquired for myself, willy or nilly, a consensus-based image of a paintist, i.e. a creative painter, mostly because of art's own ability to be easily recognizable and very little because of my own efforts to do so. I can say this because I know how little effort I have publicly or formally made so far towards this purpose in comparison to how much I have spent towards other pursuits

Though I have many and more important facets to myself and these facets integrally go a long way in shaping my image as a creative painter I respect current public consensus about myself. And therefore, for the initial purpose of this museum I consider Art and Painting to be my basic, if not main, concern and pursuit. This image and pursuit to be sustainable requires me to be working on three fronts, in a three-tier fashion

1. Art practices and art production. For me this involves Studio activities in my private,personal space. This in itself could be termed as art-for-the-pleasure of one's own conscience. But is it really true?

What providence endowed me with for the pleaure of my own conscience turned out, at the only few shows I have had a dacade back, to be curiously and unexpectedly called for by a section of the audience seeking meaning of life and fulfilment of its purpose. Many old discerning eyes made an earnest entreaty before me to provide museum like facility where they could dwell on and delve into the spiritually deep esthetics of my paintings. I never imagined my art could mean that much to anyone. And finding it to mean so much to many was enough for me to be be obilized. But alas. That was not to happen too soon, not in their life time. But.....

Rambha Saya (RaSa, nomenclature for some mystic reasons) is the name I have given to my personal space whether it is physical or abstract/imaginary

2. Exposure to public, audience for the sake of various forms of socio-cultural impact and personal spiritual relief reflected by appreciation, criticism, reaction, feedback, return and reward in whatever form and format it could be acceptable. This part has to be in the form of Gallery and Museum activities, in short. This could be seen as art-as-a-means. Banner: Chitrakutee and/or Sukean Center

3. Betterment of overall invironment to make second tier activity more substantial and wider in impact, sustainable, more successful, more advanced. This requires susidiary activities and pursuits that can reasonably and sensibly promote and enhance pro-art sentiments in general, and pro-Sukean-art sentiments in particular. So obviously this has to be a very proactive, creative, integrated approach to society and social activities. It is based on the view that if you need a better social life in a society that is below par then you have to mould the society for the better in your own way. This potentially very vast sphere of pursuits, concerns and activities, more informal than formal, fall under my Social Work and social services section targeting wider section of public and siciety. This pursuit itself could be broken down in three segments.

3a: Name: LENS-Project. The ultimate purpose of this project is To elicit profound, highly intellectual reaction, criticism, review and reward from audience and society so that intellectual level of society could be raised. Here art could be seen as an integrated, intrinsic yardstick to guage the intellectual level. To benefit from the full potential of art one needs to put not just art-works of deep and wide meaning and/or implications before people, but one needs to put before art an audience having at least equally deep understanding and insight. So lens_project will aim at enhancing people's observational and expressive, linguistic faculty. In short, Lens-project is a language training program.

3b. LIA-Project: On line similar with lens_project but a level higher up. This is to be for the selected few extra meritorious deserving extra, advanced care and promotion. LIA - Living Installation Art - is to create quality characters from socio-cultural, spiritual and intellectual point of view for the purpose of overall esthetic enhancement of habitat and society. By quality I mean intellectial and spiritual quality that cannot be denied. This quality is essential for a lasting, reliable, social fabric. Without cultural components a society cannot be stable.

3c. Conservational Project: The above two are two important sides of the third concern. With 'sustainability' and 'stability' concern is associated the concern of conservation and preservation of art and culture as well. In a values-based society, culture and civilization conservation and preservation happen to be a big matter of concern. At its extreme and sincerest level this concern opens door to advanced spirituality.
